Q. Ashok Sir, first of all thank you for talking to us! Could you tell us a little bit about your role?

Thank you, My role in Delta plus India is no different from what has been depicted beautifully and meaningfully in our tag line. It is to ensure “your safety at work “. I try my best of understanding, efforts and sincerity to make it happen each day, through a well-integrated team work encompassing design, manufacturing and distribution.

Q. Despite universal attention on COVID-19 vaccines, the need for countries to access quality-assured PPE remains crucial. Can you explain why?

The covid pandemic created havoc globally by being a deadly and extremely transmissible virus among the human beings which brought the entire world to a halt.

Obviously, the attention of all nations was king pinned on mass vaccinations to their fellow countrymen.

Having said that it is also imperative to use proper and adequate PPE for the persons engaged in manufacturing, transportation and administration of vaccines. The health workers need to be protected against the attack by wearing disposable face, body, and foot and hand protection.

For all healthcare workers caring for patients of covid, PPE that fully covers skin and prevents any exposure of the eyes, nose and mouth is recommended to reduce the risks of accidental self- contamination of mucous membranes. All PPE must be used in the context of a comprehensive infection control programme that follows CDC recommendations and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Act 1970 (OSHA) requirements.

This explains why the use of PPE which are totally complied to the existing norms laid down by the responsible agencies remains always crucial even when we are facing a deadly virus attack like covid.

It is superfluous to mention here that 100% compliance to norms is the only way to ensure safety and hygiene of the workers which prevents them from getting infected or injured.

Q. What about emergency settings? Have there been challenges for manufacturing PPE during the time of emergency?

Usually, emergencies arise when there is an unprecedented and unplanned consumption of PPEs by the consuming countries because of break out of an episode a pandemic situation. Yes, of course there have been challenges to meet the despatch schedule. In these compelling situations we have to revisit our plan almost every day with specific attentions to the efficiency of our supply chain. Everyone involved in our supply chain gets geared up to meet the enthralling challenges of delivery. There are pressures on availability of raw materials like leather and synthetics because of extremely high demands. Also directly outsourced suppliers are asked to enhance their manpower and material availability to cope up with challenges faced by us.

We are fortunate and boastful of our esteemed suppliers who have always stood by us whenever there has been a need to boost up defogger PPE.

Q. Please give your brief about your R & D team and their contribution to making quality and hygienic PPE products?

We have a centralised R & D centre in China where our competent R & D team are constantly engaged in new developments in our products in order to meet a new challenge in risk mitigation and/ or making it more comfortable to wear for the worker. Our group is developing 15% of new products in a year.

One recent shining new development is our BTP model of shoes namely GOBI, ATACAMA and TAKU. GOBI is a polyvalent boot for outdoor construction activities and finishing work. ATACAMA is a ranger boot particularly adopted to hard environments requiring additional leg protection. TAKU is a rigger boot dedicated to winter activities and has been designed to withstand a temp of -30 degrees Centigrade.

Q. What are your future plans of expansion/new product lauch?

Our Group is expanding globally with acquisitions of a new company almost every year. Delta Plus is now present in 110 countries around the world with 5 logistic platforms and 14 proximity warehouses. There are 13 production sites spread over CHINA, INDIA, FRANCE, SPAIN, US, UAE, BRAZIL, ARGENTINA, PERU and ITALY. Our Group Chairman Mr. Jerome Benoit has already announced the Group’s vision for the next two years which is “Desire to elevate our positioning and establish DELTAPLUS as a key Brand in the PPE market world over.

Q. Thank you again Ashokji, this has been extremely helpful to our viewers. Are there any closing notes you would like to make to the readers reading to this?

Thanks a lot. It's my pleasure and privilege. As a closing note I would like to say that, GOD has meticulously designed our body with utmost care of safety of all the vital organs. Similarly, safety is something to be imbibed in our daily routine everywhere and need to be religiously practiced. Adherence to safety norms and use of properly designed PPE is the only way to emulate GOD’s safety gifts to us.
